Lacey - SO sweet, Amy and I really hope, too, that your daughter remains confident in who she is. ;) I love it, too, when my boys express their preferences of my dress and style. ;) None like it when I pull my hair back, for instance. :)

Emma Wood - Oh Amy, these images are so lovely, so soft and beautiful and I just know that your sweet girl will cherish these words forever. How sweet that she sees all of the dtails and tells her Mama that she looks pretty. <3

Melissa Stottmann - Beautiful words Amy! And a great remind <3

katie - Such an amazing letter. Your girls are so lucky to have such an amazing and supportive mom. More little girls need letters like this. There’s nothing more perfect or beautiful than confidence and you, Amy, have no doubt instilled that in your kids.

Caroline Jensen - So beautiful Amy! I love her winter coat too. You letter is so touching. <3

amy grace - i really love the images you chose here, especially to accompany your words. such purity, such beauty, like a memory of a dream, in the snow, just her. she is trying on different feelings, getting used to changing while changing her clothes. it takes a safe and loved child to love that. it’s wonderful that she feels you as a constant, and that you know it, and can appreciate all of her dreaming. i sometimes think the end of my glamor, my perfect on the outside time, came at a time that’s not the best for my girl. but then i realize that them knowing us comfortable, focusing on what we do, who we are, is so much a better deal. love to you friend. beautiful post.

Ginger Unzueta - so beautifully written amy. i have one daughter who loves for me to still pick our her clothes at 8 and one who is 3 who wants to do it all her own. funny how it works like that? i do love that like your daughter they both notice when mommy does something different..and they stop and comment. such pure and innocent love. wonderful reminder this month of sharing with them, to always be who they are…no matter what.

Rashmi - I love this Amy. And how it makes me smile and share the secret ‘i know, i am a mom to a girl too’ look with the mamas of girls wearing the most outrageously mismatched outfits. You just know they dressed themselves and you just know how special that is and how wonderful the mom is that they let their daughters express their version of ‘matching’. I always think the mismatched (in our eyes) outfits on little kids make my heart smile so much more than the perfectly matched with accessories outfit that you know the mom put together. It is the simple things that make us so happy. You are such a good mom. xo

Kirsty - I love this soooo much Amy – I smile and nod and think of my own little opinionated fashionista and the adorable outfits she picks and how they make me smile – I can so feel how you feel and love that you instil that confidence in her

Debbie Wibowo - Totally fell in love with the images. It made giggle reading the part when you don’t have the heart to tell her what don’t match. I wish I could be like little kids again, not afraid of mixing and matching, not afraid of what people might think about one self, and just let your creativity soar. You gave her that opportunity and that’s a wonderful thing!

Sara T - I love that you take the time to always tell her how perfect she is in so many ways. We often don’t do this enough. I love that you encourage her to be her all the time and not worry about who is listening, watching or hearing her. Just be free and live life as it should be lived. It is so so important.

shalonda - AMY!!!! oh my gosh how did i not ever get to this post the other when we went live?! boy did i miss out! your snow images…well your “any” images always take my breath away, i FEEL when i look at your work and its truly so real and beautiful. i love the way you love your babies, it too is so real, raw and beautiful…xoxo sweet friend

Jenn - Amy, I found your website through Clickin Moms. Beautiful pictures, and your letter, well, I choked up when I read this. Simply lovely…..

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous high school student last August. She’s just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. I can’t wait to see where life takes her in the next chapter of her journey.

10 on 10 | January 2013

The first day of the year is kind of a special one. I try to keep it mostly routine, but a little extra special, too, in hopes that it sets the stage for a wonderful new year.

The first day of 2013 was a great one — it was a relaxed day with my family doing very normal things. Sleeping in, a long morning bath, a bowling alley to ourselves, and a late afternoon movie made for a wonderful day. It’s these routine days and routine moments that really seem so special. I’m so grateful to have each and every one.

good morning, moon | good morning, bella | good morning, bug |morning bath | all to himself | champion bowler | a perfect 10 | like mother, like daughter | looking into the future
