On this day in November, I am grateful for so, so very many things. There are profound things I’m grateful for, including my health (and the fact that I am able to write this post!), my beautiful children who have made all my dreams come true, a supportive and loving husband, the opportunity to be home with and care for my kids, a home to call our own, the freedoms I take for granted, extended family who we can always rely on.…. I could go on and on. It actually feels a bit peculiar to be writing just one post about gratitude, because it deserves so much more than just one. For me, gratitude is more than a simple emotion. Gratitude is a lifestyle. It fills me up every day, and somehow even on the most difficult, stressful days when it seems nothing can go right, I will always find both big and small things to be grateful for. Here are just a few from one day in November, 2011.
I am grateful for those glorious mornings when a big little boy comes in to snuggle, so warm and soft, and still in his waking-up stage.

I am grateful that I have two small girls who have a special knack for speed-cleaning.

I am grateful for a sky so amazing that it forces you to pull over, get out of your car, and just breathe it in.

I am grateful because memories can live on in our hearts, our heads, and our photographs.

I am grateful for the opportunity to get completely lost in the pages of so many wonderful books.

I am grateful that I have girls that love to go to dance class, but stop first to check out what is going on outside the window.

I am grateful that I have so many people who care about me and fill my life with friendship, support, and unconditional love.

I am grateful for my sunny corner and my vintage chair.

I am grateful that I can breathe a deep sigh of relief whenever he gets off the bus….my boy is home with me again.

I am grateful for the sunsets that I can watch from my front porch.

I’m partaking in this 10 project with other photographers from around the country. The idea is to capture simple moments in our everyday lives, to remind us of why we picked up a camera in the first place, and maybe even encourage others to do the same. Add this to the list of experiences I am grateful for.
